ROLL YOUR OWN POKER: A BASIC GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS
Some of the variations of idn poker have several versions of their own. Stud, one of the most well-known poker variations, has plenty of versions. A game of Roll Your Own needs at least 5 and at most 7 players. Only up to seven players can play since each player receives seven cards. There are only fifty-two cards in a deck and eight players will need fifty-six cards. The usual Roll Your Own does not use any wildcards. Players can choose to add them to make the game more interesting. The game becomes Shifting Sands if players decide to use wildcards.
Basic gameplay
Each player has to ante a fixed denomination. The dealer then gives each player three face-down cards. Players view their respective hands after everyone receives all their cards. The first betting round starts with the player to the left of the dealer.
Each player chooses one of the three cards in their hand after the first betting round is complete. Players then turn these cards face-up at the same time. The second betting round begins after showing the first cards.
The dealer gives each player a fourth card after the second betting round. Players will again select one of the three unexposed cards. Like in the previous round, they turn them face-up at the same time. The third round of betting begins with the player two seats away from the dealer. The player to his or her left takes control if that player is already out of the game.
The game continues for two more rounds until players receive the final face-down card. Players no longer need to choose a card to turn at this point. Each player now has four face-up cards and three face-down cards. A final betting round then takes place. Players show their hands once completing the betting round. The player with the best five-card poker hand wins the game.
Strategy and betting
Each betting round of Roll Your Own starts with a new player. This is not the same as the traditional Seven-Card Stud game. For the traditional game, the first player to the left of the dealer begins the betting round. Roll Your Own gives each player a chance to start the betting round by rotating clockwise.
Players can control their hand more by choosing which cards to show their opponents. Using the face-down cards as part of the hand keeps the strength of the hand hidden from opponents.
